Wiper Blades
Some tips to prolonged the life of your wipers is to check them in the morning, especially during the winter months, for chips or cracks in the rubber blade. Signs to look for when your blade needs replacement are streaks on your windshield, but a good blade should last you a year.
Be sure to clean the windshield manually after a snow fall or freezing rain. Also, when you park the car, stand them up off the windshield – this will let you clear the whole windshield and prevent damage to the motor and linkages if the wipers get stuck.
The Spirit of Success
by Adele Alfano, Canada’s Diamond Coach
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of being the after-dinner keynote speaker for the Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan. In my two days with these wonderful women, I experienced the true spirit of the west…a sparkle to succeed.
What is the true spirit of success? Does it mean owning a multi-million dollar business, employing staff, a large home or a great car? For some, this may describe the pinnacle of success and that is fine. What I saw with these women was the true spark of success. They exuded a positive attitude, but along with that an unwritten mission statement of nurturing, supporting and mentoring each other.
1. Spirit of Success: Nurturing is the ability to sustain and foster relationships. It is not only about networking, and glad handling, it is truly about helping and promoting each other. Women business owners in the province of Saskatchewan are on the increase! What a marvelous testimonial to the ability to nurture not only themselves but others.
2. Spirit of Success: Support is the foundation, the groundwork in any building of business. The topic of the conference was Building Your Business, for today, tomorrow and beyond. With any good standing structure, we know that the foundation is a key to holding it up not just for today, but always. The beams that support a business are of course, a good sense of humour, but learning and persevering through the rough times with help from others.
3. Spirit of Success: Mentoring is not only about being a trusted and advisor for someone else starting up in business, it is about being a true role model. In my speaking associations, we are encouraged to be the same person on and off the platform. What I took note during my time in Saskatoon was a genuine respect and down to earth attitude to all. I believe those are essential core values that you cannot turn on or off.
Oh…one other thing, the true spirit of success is not only being a teacher to others, but always enjoying being the student of life!! Thanks Saskatoon for the lessons!
Do you wake up suffering from allergic reactions?
by Ken Bayliss of Mohawk Duct Cleaning Services
Indoor allergies are vastly more common than seasonal. It’s very possible that dust mite colonies in your mattress are causing them. Here is some mattress infested dust mite info … and more!
Did you know that 7000 dust mites can fit on a dime? 99% of homes have dust mites. 2 million dust mites reside in the average mattress; dropping approximately 40 million excrement pellets (feces) a day. “Guanine” is the name for decomposed dust mite excrement; you sleep on this every night. Dust mite feces produce a protein (allergen) very similar to cat dander.
Dark coloured cats produce stronger allergic reactions than fair coloured cats. Male cats also produce more dander. 6 months time (average) is needed to eliminate cat allergens after the cat is removed from the house.
While sleeping, a man will lose ¼ to ½ litre of water overnight (sweat). A woman will lose half as much moisture overnight. This moisture is absorbed into your mattress.
Your mattress is a perfect breeding ground for dust mites. It’s humid and full of your dead skin. Ultra-violet light turns your dead skin flakes sterile (like ash), resulting in a depleted food source for dust mites.
Grossed out? Get your mattress cleaned!
